Welcome to the Riyadh Metro guide
The Riyadh Metro is the newest rapid transit network in the region and one of the largest transport projects anywhere in the world. The first trains ran on 1 December 2024 and the last of the six lines opened on 5 January 2025, giving the city 6 lines and 83 stations spread over 176 km (109 mi) that cover the capital from King Khalid International Airport in the north to Ad Dar Al Baida in the south, and from Jeddah Road in the west to Khashm Al An in the east. Every train is driverless, and the network links KAFD, Olaya, Al Bat’ha, Qasr Al Hokm, the universities, the ministries and the airport into one system with the buses on a single ticket. It is run by the Riyadh Public Transport Authority (RPT), part of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, under the darb brand.
