King Saud University ↔ King Fahad Sport City
Line 2 (Red) cuts across Riyadh from west to east over 25.3 km (16 mi), following King Abdullah Road, one of the busiest corridors in the city. It starts at King Saud University, calls at King Salman Oasis, KACST and At Takhassussi, crosses Line 1 at stc in the heart of Olaya, then carries on east through Al Wurud, King Abdulaziz Road, Ministry of Education, An Nuzhah, Riyadh Exhibition Center, Khalid Bin Alwaleed Road, Al Hamra, Al Khaleej and Ishbiliyah to its eastern terminus at King Fahad Sport City. Fifteen stations spread over that distance make it a fast cross-town line rather than a stop-everywhere local one, which is exactly what suits university students, government staff and anyone heading for an exhibition or a big match. The construction mixes as the city thickens around it: elevated and at-grade stations towards the ends, shallow and deep tunnel through the built-up middle. Interchanges with Line 1 at stc, with Line 5 at Ministry of Education and with Line 6 at Al Hamra tie the east–west axis into the rest of the network.

- Line 2 has roughly the fewest stations per kilometre on the network: 15 stops over 25.3 km (16 mi). The spacing is deliberate — it was designed as a fast axis across the width of the city, not as a line for short hops within a district.
- stc, where Line 2 meets Line 1 in the middle of Olaya, is one of the four architecturally distinctive stations on the network. It was designed by the German practice Gerber Architekten as the gateway to Riyadh's most important business district.
- Its eastern terminus at King Fahad Sport City serves one of the largest stadiums in the Kingdom, which makes Line 2 the main route for the crowds on big match days — on top of its service to the Riyadh Exhibition Center.

Where the east–west axis meets the north–south spine in the heart of Olaya; from here a single change opens up the whole network.
Ministry of Education — interchange with Line 5
A shared station and the northern terminus of Line 5; the Green Line sets off south from here in tunnel under King Abdulaziz Road towards Al Wizarat and National Museum.
Al Hamra — interchange with Line 6
In east Riyadh, where you can pick up the Purple Line north towards SABIC and KAFD or on towards An Naseem.
