About SABIC

SABIC is a shallow underground station — the only one below ground on the trunk that Line 4 (Yellow) and Line 6 (Purple) share, and the last point at which the two meet before going their separate ways. It stands in north-eastern Riyadh beside the headquarters of the petrochemicals company it is named after, in a district that mixes corporate offices and administrative premises with quiet residential streets. From here Line 4 continues north to the two Princess Nourah University stations and then to the King Khalid International Airport terminals, while Line 6 turns east towards Granada and Al Yarmuk before heading south to An Naseem. That makes SABIC a decision point rather than just another stop: this is where your direction is settled between the airport and the eastern half of the city, and where anyone who boarded the wrong line further south still has the chance to put it right.

It sits between Uthman Bin Affan Road and PNU 1 on Line 4. It is a shared interchange station between Line 4 and Line 6: the lines call at the same station, so you change inside it without leaving the gates or paying for a second ticket.

It is a shallow underground station and runs to the network hours: 5:30 am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am on Friday. The SAR 4 two-hour ticket covers the metro and the buses. Below you will find the station on the map, journey times, interchanges and facilities.

Frequently asked questions

SABIC is a shared station served by Line 4 and Line 6 on the Riyadh Metro. It is a shared interchange: the lines call at the same station, so you change inside it without leaving the gates or paying for a second ticket.
Yes. It was built as a shallow underground station, sitting just below street level rather than deep down. That sets it apart from the rest of the shared trunk: Ar Rabi and Uthman Bin Affan Road are both elevated, with their platforms carried above the street.
It is the last station shared by Line 4 (Yellow) and Line 6 (Purple). North of SABIC, Line 4 runs to King Khalid International Airport; Line 6 turns east and then south towards An Naseem. Passengers effectively choose between the airport and eastern Riyadh here, so it is worth checking the line before boarding.
SAR 4 (about $1.07) for a two-hour Regular class ticket, or SAR 10 in First class. The fare is flat and time-based rather than distance-based, it covers metro and buses together, and transfers are included within the two hours. Pay with a darb card.
Service at SABIC station runs to the Riyadh Metro network hours: from 05:30 to 00:00 Saturday to Thursday, and on Friday from 10:00 to 00:00. Hours change during Ramadan and the Eid holidays and are announced at the time — check the schedule page before you travel.
Yes. There are ticket vending machines (TVMs) at Riyadh Metro stations, and you can buy a card or top it up there or at a ticket office. Note that the darb app does not top up the card balance — full details on the darb card page.
