About Al Hamra
In the Al Hamra district of eastern Riyadh, this is a single shared station where Line 2 (Red) meets Line 6 (Purple) — passengers move between the two lines inside the station itself, without stepping outside. It is elevated, with the platform above street level, and it sits on Line 2 between Khalid Bin Alwaleed Road and Al Khaleej, and on Line 6 between Al Yarmouk and Al Andalus. Its importance outstrips the size of the neighbourhood it serves. For residents of eastern Riyadh it is the door onto Line 6, running north through Al Yarmouk, Ghirnatah and the SABIC trunk to KAFD, or south through Al Andalus and Khurais Road to An Naseem, while Line 2 carries on west from the same station towards Olaya and King Saud University. Neither line ends here — both simply pass through, which is part of why the interchange works so smoothly in either direction. The district around it is ordinary enough: housing, mosques, schools and local shops, with a share of passengers who never leave the building at all.
It sits between Khalid Bin Alwaleed Road and Al Khaleej on Line 2. It is a shared interchange station between Line 2 and Line 6: the lines call at the same station, so you change inside it without leaving the gates or paying for a second ticket.
It is an elevated station and runs to the network hours: 5:30 am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am on Friday. The SAR 4 two-hour ticket covers the metro and the buses. Below you will find the station on the map, journey times, interchanges and facilities.
