About Al Wizarat

Al Wizarat is Riyadh's government quarter, and it is the reason Line 5 exists at all; the station bearing the district's name sits in the middle of it on King Abdulaziz Road. It is deep underground, served only by the Green Line, and falls between GOSI to the north and Ministry of Defense to the south. What sets this station apart from its neighbours is that the destination above it is not one building but a whole district of adjoining departments and headquarters, which makes it among the busiest stops on the line during office hours. Alongside the staff and the people coming in on official business, the station is used by passengers travelling down from the north on their way to the National Museum and the King Abdulaziz Historical Centre at the southern end of the route. There is no interchange at Al Wizarat itself — the changes are at the two ends of the line — but from here the southern terminus is only three stops away.

It sits between GOSI and Ministry of Defense on Line 5.

It is a deep underground station and runs to the network hours: 5:30 am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am on Friday. The SAR 4 two-hour ticket covers the metro and the buses. Below you will find the station on the map, journey times, interchanges and facilities.

Frequently asked questions

Al Wizarat is on Line 5 (Green) of the Riyadh Metro, which runs from Ministry of Education to National Museum.
Because it sits in the middle of the Al Wizarat district itself, where government headquarters and departments line King Abdulaziz Road. Line 5 (Green) was built primarily to serve this government corridor, so the movement of staff and official visitors concentrates here more than anywhere else on the route.
Underground, and deep underground like the rest of Line 5. The Green Line spends its entire 12.9 km (8 mi) in deep tunnel beneath King Abdulaziz Road, running between Ministry of Education in the north and National Museum in the south without ever surfacing.
Ride south to National Museum, the Green Line’s southern terminus, three stops away via Ministry of Defense, King Abdulaziz Hospital and Ministry of Finance. National Museum is a single shared station where Line 5 (Green) meets Line 1 (Blue), so you change between the two inside the station itself.
Service at Al Wizarat station runs to the Riyadh Metro network hours: from 05:30 to 00:00 Saturday to Thursday, and on Friday from 10:00 to 00:00. Hours change during Ramadan and the Eid holidays and are announced at the time — check the schedule page before you travel.
Yes. There are ticket vending machines (TVMs) at Riyadh Metro stations, and you can buy a card or top it up there or at a ticket office. Note that the darb app does not top up the card balance — full details on the darb card page.
