About Al Owd
Just south of the historic quarter, Al Owd is a deep tunnel station on Line 1 (Blue) and one of the last buried stops before the line climbs onto its viaduct further south. Al Owd is one of the older districts of Riyadh: a tight mesh of housing and small businesses, high residential density, and narrow streets laid out well before the city's modern expansion. Its residents — a mix of Saudi families and expatriates — make up most of the station's traffic, and most of them are travelling north to work in the centre and Olaya. Qasr Al Hokm, one stop north, is the nearest interchange, with Line 3 (Orange); the next station south, Skirinah, is where the Blue Line surfaces and the elevated run down to Ad Dar Al Baida begins. The contrast across a single stop is sharp: one station north the streets fill with visitors to the souqs, while Al Owd stays a working residential quarter that outsiders have little reason to get off in.
It sits between Qasr Al Hokm and Skirinah on Line 1.
It is a deep underground station and runs to the network hours: 5:30 am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am on Friday. The SAR 4 two-hour ticket covers the metro and the buses. Below you will find the station on the map, journey times, interchanges and facilities.
