About Railway

The name is a signpost: Railway station exists to serve Riyadh's intercity railway station, run by Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), and it is where passengers heading for trains towards the Eastern Province start their journey. It stands east of central Riyadh at the northern edge of the First Industrial City area and south of Al Malaz, and is a deep-tunnel stop on Line 3 (Orange), which serves it alone. Its real value is the link it makes: the metro network inside Riyadh joined to the railway network between cities, so travellers reach their train without a car or a taxi, and arrive on a service that runs to a fixed timetable of its own. It falls between First Industrial City to the west and Al Malaz to the east, which also makes it a handy way into the southern edge of Al Malaz — one of the older planned districts of the city, a short walk or a single stop north from here.

It sits between First Industrial City and Al Malaz on Line 3.

It is a deep underground station and runs to the network hours: 5:30 am to midnight Saturday to Thursday, and from 10:00 am on Friday. The SAR 4 two-hour ticket covers the metro and the buses. Below you will find the station on the map, journey times, interchanges and facilities.

Frequently asked questions

Railway is on Line 3 (Orange) of the Riyadh Metro, which runs from Jeddah Road to Khashm Al An.
Because it serves Riyadh’s intercity railway station, operated by Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), the departure point for trains between cities. Connecting the metro to that railway is the station’s whole purpose — passengers can reach their train without driving or taking a taxi.
Head west on Line 3 towards Jeddah Road and you reach Qasr Al Hokm after five stops. That is where Line 1 (Blue) can be picked up, since Line 3 and Line 1 share the same station — there is no walk to a separate building and no second ticket.
It is a deep-tunnel station, like the rest of the Line 3 stops through this part of the city. It sits between First Industrial City to the west and Al Malaz to the east, on the arm of the Orange Line running out towards An Naseem and Khashm Al An.
Service at Railway station runs to the Riyadh Metro network hours: from 05:30 to 00:00 Saturday to Thursday, and on Friday from 10:00 to 00:00. Hours change during Ramadan and the Eid holidays and are announced at the time — check the schedule page before you travel.
Yes. There are ticket vending machines (TVMs) at Riyadh Metro stations, and you can buy a card or top it up there or at a ticket office. Note that the darb app does not top up the card balance — full details on the darb card page.
